1987

The Beginning

Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt form Sweet Children in Berkeley, California. Two teenagers with a shared love for punk rock and a dream to make music that matters.

1989

Green Day is Born

The band changes their name to Green Day, inspired by their love of marijuana. Tré Cool joins as drummer, completing the iconic trio that would change punk rock forever.

1994

Dookie Explosion

Their major-label debut "Dookie" sells over 10 million copies worldwide, bringing punk rock to the mainstream with hits like "Basket Case" and "When I Come Around".

2004

American Idiot Era

Green Day releases their rock opera masterpiece "American Idiot," a political punk rock symphony that defines a generation and wins multiple Grammy Awards.
